Hi, I’m Derek Hopper, creator of Million Dollar Hacker. If you’re trying to get a handle on your finances and you’re a millennial like me, this place is for you. You might know nothing about personal finance and have $0 invested in the stock market, but you can learn a bunch if you start reading around here.
If you’re already an expert on your finances, you might not like it here. I’m not a financial adviser and I don’t have a million dollars.
Here’s one thing I do know. I know anyone can work toward financial freedom and feel better about money. You can have a better relationship with your spouse when it comes to your family’s finances. All it takes is some knowledge and a little bit of hard work.
Years ago, my wife and I never worked together on budgeting and didn’t talk about how we spent our money. Today, we plan how every dollar will be spent and we rarely have disagreements on our finances. Oh, and we save better than ever, too.
As a thank you to you and other readers out there, I put together a money savings guide. I don’t believe in money saving tips, but I do believe in a total lifestyle change to become a better saver.
Saving money is a mindset. You have to work hard to build the habit. Money saving tips aren’t going to help you become a millionaire. However, the right mindset can.

Over the years, I’ve learned to read how others view money and build wealth. It’s important to learn from others, but forge your own path forward in the end. Your experiences may be similar to others, but ultimately you’ll be a unique wealth builder over the years.
You may share some of the same traits as Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, but you’ll be your own person. I truly believe each of us are a weird concoction of where we were born, the books and articles we read, and the experiences we endure over the years.
What can I expect as a reader of Million Dollar Hacker?
If you become a regular reader here, you’ll notice a similar set of topics. I discuss credit cards, debt, strategies to become a millionaire, saving money, budgeting, and investing. I also talk about my blogging journey.
Like I mentioned before, I’m not an expert. However, you might be able to learn something from my own experiences. I usually don’t hold back. You’ll read about my biggest mistakes and my largest triumphs.
For the most part though, enjoy yourself. If you agree with me and what I wrote made you think, let me know. On the other hand, if you vehemently disagree, don’t hold back.
